In 2025, a key change has been introduced with the launch of a new national funding stream from Te Whatu Ora, aimed at supporting up to 400 graduate registered nurses across primary care, community, and rural health settings.

  • Point of care testing

    Point of care testing (POCT) capability is becoming increasingly available in general practice. POCT enables rapid clinical decision-making, an increased likelihood of keeping people well and closer to home (by avoiding referral to hospital) and addresses rural inequities which may be compounded by distance and infrastructure. Pinnacle has developed guidance for quality control of POCT in general practice and a POCT adverse events monitoring system.

  • Pinnacle nurse lead team

    We have two full-time nurse leads across the Pinnacle network — Ngaire Signal (Waikato) and Jessica Knight (Taranaki) — and two part-time nurse leads — Jane Wilkie (Tairāwhiti) and Hannah Milner (Lakes). Our nurse leads work as a team to support over 450 nurses across all four districts, with a key focus on growing and supporting our nursing kaimahi (staff).
